A Microfinance Cooperative Linking Socially Conscious Lenders with Microfinance Entrepreneurs in the Developing World

Envest is a loan fund which manages a unique mix of strategies to alleviate poverty and promote an earth-friendly economy. Driven by both social values and sound business practice, such strategies appeal to both ends of the spectrum—lenders and loan recipients.

This approach offers socially and environmentally conscious individuals and institutions the opportunity to support microfinance entrepreneurs in developing countries.

In the era of rapid globalization, microfinance works.  Given the chance and the credit, even the poorest of the poor have demonstrated a great ability to build viable enterprises. With adequate business support, they can feed their families and build a better quality of life, even in very challenging conditions.

Your support can allow more people to have access to the opportunities for health, education, and food that microfinance makes possible for families worldwide.

ENVEST'S PORTFOLIO REACHES $1,000,000

On January 22, 2010, Envest’s portfolio topped $1,000,000 USD with the signing of three additional transactions. Envest completed three loans in rapid succession to reach this mark, including a loan to a new MFI partner in Ecuador, FACES, and loans for two established partner MFIs, CEPRODEL and PRESTANIC. These transactions were made possible through social investments from our members.

The founder of Envest, Jon Bishop, stated, “Reaching $1 million in portfolio means that we are providing loans to about 2,000 families that otherwise would not have access to credit. It also means that we have the track record necessary to begin attracting larger amounts of capital to serve far more borrowers worldwide.”
